Charles Edward
Lake
Jun 11, 1950 — May 9, 2026
Charles Edward Lake, 75, of Bedford, passed away on May 9, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 11, 1950, to the late Oren Lake and Jenny Turpin Lake. On August 13, 1973, he married Carrie Lake, who preceded him in death in 2025.
Charles was a member of Guide Pointe Church and a former minister of Apostolic Faith Assembly. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Over the years, he worked in many roles, including minister, carpenter, dump truck driver, handyman, and mechanic. Charles was known for his generous heart and willingness to help others—he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He took great pride in his time as a race car driver, driving the lucky No. 7 car in sprints and modifieds. Above all, he deeply loved his family.
Charles is survived by his children, Charles Edward Lake Jr., Brian (Brandi) Lake, and Carrie (Jeremiah) Turpin; grandchildren, Evan, Clayton, Ella Mae, Parker, Rylan, Brooklyn, Gabby, Alexis, Nick, Ginger, Brandon, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Harper, Grayson, Maverick, Hudson, Carter, Brezlin, Kyren, Oaklynn, and Rilynn; honorary grandchild, Ciera; sisters, Janet Sears, Debbie (Rick) Walls, Brenda Lake, and Tammy Brock; brothers, Joe Lake and Forrest Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Special mention to Tommy and Mindy Busch, who were great friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Lake; his parents, Oren and Jenny Turpin Lake; his brother and best friend, Steve Lake; his sisters, Martha May, Sue May, and Cheryl Richardson; and his children, Michelle, Ginger, Jeffrey, and Melissa.
