Fern Mckeaigg, 99, of Lawrence County, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2023 at her residence. Born in Lawrence County on January 22, 1924, she was the daughter of Elza and Hattie (Wilkerson) Brock. She married Jasper Mckeaigg on December 12, 1940, and he passed on January 27, 1992. Fern had worked for BRMC in the dietary department and had also worked as a cook at Tunnelton High School and Bedford North Lawrence High School. Fern attended Tunnelton High School and completed a Dietary Certificate Program. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Leesville and a member of Seymour Eastern Star. Surviving to cherish the memory of Fern is her son, Larry J. Mckeaigg; grandson, Brandon (Lisa) Mckeaigg; and two great-granddaughters, Jaylee and Aly Mckeaigg. Fern was lovingly called Aunty Granny by Nedra Fleetwood (Scott), Robbin Green (Len), Shannon Brock (Kyla), Brock Fleetwood (Jessi Lux), Britney Baker (Brett), Lacie Fleetwood, Jared Ricketts (Elise), James Edward Sean Ricketts (Faith), Tianna Ricketts (Skylar), Haley Brock, and Ethan Brock.Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Hattie; Husband, Jasper; daughter, Mary Ann Grona, and son-in-law Bob; granddaughter, Debbie Mills; grandson, Jimmy Grona; brother, Jerry Brock; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Brock Mckeaigg. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the Ferguson-lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Dixon Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Thursday, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
