Lois K. Dearwester, 87, of Loogootee, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 9:05 p.m. at the Loogootee Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born to Walter and Leoma Stuckey Bough on July 18, 1926 in Martin County, Indiana. She married Al Dearwester in 1958 and he preceded her in death in 1968. Lois worked at Jeffers Garage, Reliance Shirt Factory and Crane QE Lab. Lois was also a caregiver for many of her relatives over the years. Anyone that knew Lois realized her passion was her family, baking, cooking, sharing her baked goods with others and taking care of her loved ones. The grandchildren only knew one birthday cake maker and that was grandma. Lois is the reason her family has stayed so close over the years. If the calendar said Sunday then Lois was cooking up a big meal so her family could all gather and stay engaged with each other's life. One of her recipes was selected as a Grand Champion recipe in the American Profile magazine and later was published in their cookbook. Lois also loved to enter all kinds of contests and giveaways and was very lucky many times through the years. A lot of Lois' hard work was done behind the scenes and may have gone unnoticed by many. We know that was fine with her and basically she was doing what the Bible tells us we should be doing, she was not doing any of this hard work for recognition. As you can see Lois had many interest and a heart full of love but no love was deeper than her love for her children and her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Shoals American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She is loved and greatly missed by her family, including:Two sons, Clay and Helen Dearwester and Casey and Jenny Dearwester all of LoogooteeOne daughter, Shannon and Andrew Burch of LoogooteeOne step-son, Robert Dearwester of Paradise, CAGrandchildren: Drs.
