Mary Alice Simmons, 61, of Bedford passed away on May 3, 2023 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born on February 13, 1962, she was the daughter of James and Betty M. Byrd. She married Greg Simmons on December 16, 1988 and he survives. Mary worked as a Home Health Care worker and at the Guide Pointe Church Day Care. She attended Bedford North Lawrence High School and was a member of Resurrection Life Ministries. Surviving Mary is her husband, Greg; brothers, Tommy Byrd, Jerry Byrd, Troy Byrd, Charles Byrd, Gary Jones, and Richard Jones; sisters, Judy Bell, Beverly Murphy, Brenda Scott, Regina Schoolcraft, Barbie Medlock, Doris Maurer, and Linda Maurer; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and Abby & Caitie who Mary was an honorary grandmother to. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vicki; and brother Ronnie. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes. Visitation will be from 9:30am to the service time on Thursday, also at The Ferguson-Lee Chapel. Burial will be at Dive Cemetery at a later date.
