Ruth E. Edwards Padgett, 73, of Bedford, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at Plainfield Health and Rehabilitation. She was born Feb. 19, 1947 in Lawrence County to Roberta (Barrett) and Perry Edwards. She married Louis Padgett on Nov. 7, 1970 and he preceded her in death. Ruth was a graduate of Bedford High School, earned a bachelors degree in Education at Indiana State University and her masters degree at Indiana University. She was a teacher at St. De Paul School in Bedford. Ruth was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and St. Thomas More Church of Mooresville, Indiana. She loved teaching, playing piano and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving to cherish the memory of Ruth are her daughters, Elizabeth (Benjamin) Craig and Meg Jackey; son, Joe Padgett; grandchildren, Calvin Craig and Elliot Craig; brother, Perry David (Brenda) Edwards; sister, Mary Edwards; and nephews, Michael Edwards and Justin (Autumn) Marshall.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Louis John Padgett, Jr., at birth. A private family service will be held Monday, Jan. 11th, with Deacon David Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul School.
